Conference, location and venue


The 2nd International Meeting on Retouching of Cultural Heritage, RECH2, will be held at Casa das Artes in the City of Porto (Portugal), in October 24 - 25, 2014.

 


The RECH2 Meeting will be hosted by the Escola Artística e Profissional Árvore.

As in the first Meeting, which was held in October of 2013, the main focus will be to promote the exchange of ideas, concepts, terminology, methods, techniques and materials applied to the retouching process in different areas of conservation: mural painting, easel painting, sculpture, graphic documentation, architecture, plasterwork, photography and contemporary art, among others.

The RECH2 Meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for friendly discussion about all kinds of ideas related to the Retouching process/methods in Cultural Heritage. The agenda of the Conference will cover the following areas:

  1. Setting the scene: a general introduction on the subject, where general aspects will be presented like terminology and criteria’s of intervention in Heritage;
  2. Challenges and perspectives: presentation of experiences from private and academic conservators that have introduced new methods, techniques and materials in different areas of conservation: mural painting, easel painting, sculpture, graphic documentation, photography and ceramics, among others.
  3. Workshops: activities around colour and retouching practice with discrimination colour tests available.
